It’s been such a busy week at Tin Man Heart towers we thought it’d be best to condense all our news into one post with a musical accompaniment playlist. Like a Blindboy podcast, but the voice you’ll hear is your own reading voice and the music isn’t exactly gentle jazz…
So, to kick things off, Ethan Hanna’s debut single has been picking up airplay all over the place. New Zealand, South Africa, America, England and of course across Ireland. Perfect was included in Hotpress’s Tracks of the Fortnight, with Edwin McFee describing it as “an absorbing listen.” High praise indeed and we’re chuffed.
Ethan’s album, Welcome To The Batlands, is off being mastered by the audio tech wizards and we’ll have launch gig and preorder news very soon.
Also in new music news, Sonja Sleator has been back at Millbank Studios with the legend that is Michael Mormecha working on some new music. It’s a bit of a new sound for Sonja which we’re really excited about and can’t wait to share.
While we were at Millbank, it was announced that Sonja will be playing this year’s Hard Working Class Heroes festival in Dublin. The festival is an annual industry conference and showcase highlighting some of the most exciting talent in Ireland.
We’ll be bringing the band down to that one, with the full schedule to be announced soon. You can get your tickets here.
Sonja is also delighted to be playing live on the Q Radio terrace this Friday afternoon (10th August) from 4pm. The Q Radio Summer Sessions is a new venture, with the radio station working alongside Pop Up to get Northern Irish artists out to a bigger audience.
Sonja will be interviewed live on air between 3:30-4pm on Friday before the live show so make sure to listen in.
We also just have time for a quick shout out to Zool Records, who hosted Ethan Hanna at this week’s ZoolHaus live session. Mosmo Strange played a “stripped back” set ahead of their EP launch gig in the Limelight. Info on that here.
And finally – John Andrews, who supported Sonja at her ADAMS EP launch last year has released his latest EP, Johnny Was. We can’t recommend it highly enough, so get in touch with the man himself to get yourself a copy.
