In Review – 2018

This past year has been amazing for Tin Man Heart. For a start, it was our first full year of working and we had a blast.

We finished 2017 on a high with the release of Sonja Sleator’s EP, ADAMS, and picked up again with a string of great gigs. While that was going on, we were also helping Ethan Hanna with the recording of his debut album, Welcome To The Batlands.

As Sonja travelled to England and Scotland for a run of gigs in June, Ethan put the finishing touches on his album at Millbank Studios and we began planning for its release.

In August, Sonja went back in to the studio to record her follow up to ADAMS. Violent Strawberry will be released in 2019, but while she was recording she found out she had been selected to play Hard Working Class Heroes 2018. What a time to be alive.

The chaos of preparing for Ethan’s album release, finishing Sonja’s new EP and preparing for HWCH made September a pretty busy month. So, naturally we decided to go gigging around Ireland and made some new friends in Limerick, Galway, Slane and Strabane.

A week after Sonja’s performance at HWCH, Ethan played to a sold out Pavilion Bar in Belfast and Welcome To The Batlands was unleashed in to the ether, a mere six years after its inception.

While all that was happening, we were working behind the scenes on PR campaigns for acts like Blackout Season (formerly Feedb+ck), Dolbro Dan, Aaron Shanley, Kiernan McMullan and Canadian duo Jo Jo O’ & The Woods.

The year finished with Ethan Hanna reaching the semi-finals of the Bulleit Bourbon Battle of the Bands, and Sonja performing at this year’s Gifted Christmas show at the Empire.

Throughout 2018, we’ve shared the stage with some great acts and worked with lots more. We’d love for you to check them out on our Spotify playlist. Give them a follow and if you like their stuff, go buy a CD or download something from them directly – it’s those few quid that keep us all going!

So with that, cheers for 2018, we’ve loved it. In 2019 you can expect new music from Sonja, lots of exciting stuff from the Ethan Hanna camp and we have a few other things up our sleeves too which will be revealed early in the year.

To keep up to date, go on and join our mailing list. It’s the least intrusive mailing list in the history of mailing lists, we promise.
